Multi-project management in SAP: Milliarum implements scheduling of customer projects in SAP at Haver & Boecker

Milliarum introduces a multi-project management solution with Milliarum SAP Lean / Critical Project Management and the PS capacity evaluation app at machine manufacturer Haver & Boecker. They take over the scheduling of customer projects in the SAP-controlled machine factory. In this way, the family-run wire weaving company wants to create more transparency across all production steps and handle customer projects more efficiently. Milliarum was won over not least by the seamless integration into SAP.

Since 2014, project coordination at Haver & Boecker has had the task of creating, monitoring and coordinating schedules for machines and conversions to ensure on-time delivery. With the aim of making scheduling even more efficient and transparent, the company began looking for a software solution integrated into SAP in 2022.

During a market survey, Milliarum's seamlessly integrated multi-project management in SAP with the Milliarum SAP Lean / Critical Project Management and the PS capacity evaluation app proved convincing. This allows bottlenecks in production to be identified before they occur. Graphical evaluation options make it possible to compare available capacities from the SAP workstations with the demand in specific projects. The Milliarum SAP Lean / Critical Chain Project (CCPM) Management integrates the methods of bottleneck theory (Theory of Constraints) and lean project management. It also offers comprehensive additional functions, including in the areas of logistics and accounting. The integration of the Lean PM / CCPM methodology with the SAP ERP system provides the necessary data in real time. This means that information from different applications can be used in the project process.

Paul Reckmann, Head of Department at Haver & Boecker Machinery Division, sees the introduction of the multi-project management solution from Milliarum as an important step towards more efficient utilization of the company's capacity, a reduction in delivery delays and a reduction in the workload for employees: "What previously involved a lot of effort is now much easier and faster with the introduction of the solution." Although this requires a change, it leads to more efficient work.

The scheduling of projects begins as early as the quotation phase. The criteria for a scheduling request were analyzed and defined as part of a preliminary project. Taking these criteria into account, the solution assigns each request to a responsible project coordinator. Taking into account the current project portfolio and the available resources and capacities, a request is scheduled and a schedule is created. This creates transparency, both regarding the status of individual project requests and the company's overall planning. By reporting back the individual processes in SAP, the new tools not only ensure that the project status is always up to date, but also that projects are prioritized automatically.

At the TOC Innovation Summit from 29 September to 2 October in Bad Nauheim, Marvin Brox and Paul Reckmann from Haver & Boeker will present "Implementing CCPM based on the existing SAP System at Haver & Boecker: Enhancing Project Efficiency" to show how the Milliarum CCPM software has led to more efficient project execution, shorter lead times and increased organizational transparency.
